Easy Ways To Get Your 10,000 Steps

For many, just finding the time to exercise can be a challenge itself, but location and environment also play important roles in how much daily activity you get.  If you live in a rural area or in a colder climate, for example, it may be a little more difficult to get those recommended 10,000 steps in than if you live in a metro area or in a warmer climate.  If you struggle to reach your daily step goal, try one or more of these 8 helpful tips from the American Council on Exercise.
 

  1. Take the stairs
    Try skipping the elevator
     

  2. Try a lunchtime walk
    A brisk 10 - 30 minute walk will help  your body and your mind!
     

  3. Go for a run
    Think about following a training program to build your way to a goal!
     

  4. Try alternative transportation
    Adding those extra steps to catch a bus or train will bring you closer to your 10,000 step goal
     

  5. Use a standing desk
    You’ll move around more if you’re at a standing desk, adding steps and helping get rid of the “hunch” that sitting brings
